Veggie Love (Peta Porn)

Peta had a commercial planned for the superbowl, but it was deemed too explicit. The video contains scantily clad women doing suggestive things with vegetables. May be NSFW.

I don't agree with Peta's goals, but I do like their ads.

I wonder if it was designed to be banned?
Thus getting more publicity...
Or even if it was banned at all.
I am suspicious of PETA.

Funny how there are no veggie men in that advert.
No fat birds, no-one with spots, no-one with pale skin.
And in the follow up (which you get automatically) only beautiful veggies of both sexes. Save the animals. But screw with young girls' minds as to what they should be aspiring to. Okay, maybe unfair, when so many other commercial companies do - but if they set themselves up as better than, I wish they'd include the human in their animal care.

Next they'll be having live Bratz dolls eating vegetables...to continue with the mind-fuck of young women.

Meh...I didn't know if I ate a carrot I could be supermodel. Dammit. Too late.

I went veggie for two years. Totally fucked with my metabolism -- I haven't managed to re-set it in the last decade.

I just think that given their moral high ground stance, they could do with a bit more realism in their adverts.
Vegetarians come in all shpaes and sizes, but they don't acknowledge that - going for the high end fashion look.

Until I moved back here I was pretty much a vegetarian. Mostly from a cost POV, with a side order of health. But cooking with/ for my parents (Mum hates most pulses, Dad is old fashioned) I am having meat about 4 times a week. I have no issue with vegetarians, I just hate that there is one more false suggestion out there for young people... If I buy this I'll be sexy, if I do that I'll be cool, if I grease up some asparagus I'll be desirable.

Charity begins at home. Loving animals starts with humans. YMMV.

That's all marketing is, SG. How else can they sell it? Appeal to our 'better natures'? Hah! We have none.

I saw it this morning on Yahoo News. It is pretty graphic for the younger crowd. However, I'm sure it's not the first time we've seen sensual things done with vegetables.

I don't agree with their objective, but I think doing the same thing with cows, pigs and chickens would have raised a lot more eyebrows.

Asparagus, deepfried in tempura batter.

Lots of fun until you go pee later. Asparagus metabolites make weird smells.

Yeah, and beetroot makes you pee dark!

I once had both in the same meal...whew...what a surprise!

Dr Livingstoned's Journal:

Whilst hacking through the underbrush in this peta porn thread, I have uncovered the famed Lost City Of Akkoakko.

Whilst my original objective of securing a look at some vegetable molesting protesters has fallen by the wayside, I feel that in the spirit of the thread I shall leave this graphic here.
