Latest reports indicate that the weapon matching ballistics to 11 of the snipers' assaults is the Bushmaster XM-15, a build-it-yourself kit.

Coincidentally, this firearm is the featured review on October 23, 2002 at gunblast.com, one day before a similar weapon was found behind the front seat of the 1990 Caprice, upon the arrest of the two sniper suspects.
