Maybe I should email Barrister Tamey james and request his information so that I can go to him and collect the money.

Speaking of being "rich as hell"... having just come out of the holidays-with-the-extended-family shenanigans, I have to vent.

I swear to god, at least half the conversations my mother-in-law starts involve what she would do if she were incredibly wealthy. Am I the only one who finds such conversations to be utterly pointless at best, and infuriatingly stupid at worst? Who cares what you would do if you won the lottery? You won't (most notably because you don't even play,) so why do we have to suffer through your mundane fantasies every damn time we see you? Her attitude towards wealth in general is that it's just some accident that happens to lucky people--she was honestly dumbfounded when my husband commented that if she'd wanted to be rich, she wouldn't have become a schoolteacher and married a guy with a geography degree. I guess she always believed that if she were a good person, she would just somehow magically end up rich for her efforts.

Perhaps it depends on the intensity. Mum, Dad and I play the "when I win the Lottery" game when we get together, but perhaps the difference in our case is that it IS a game. It's the adults' version of let's pretend, and we build lottery castles in the sky.

They both worked hard all their lives, and have now retired. They worked hard, and well, but never had the ambition to do more than earn a living wage. I dream of providing a luxurious retirement for them both, but we know it is simply a dream. My brother and sister have the drive, but although they love our parents, they're (obviously) not as easy come easy go about money as me.

So a couple of times a year we sit and laugh and dream and generously bestow gifts on eachother (including my siblings - we love them for their ambition, not in spite of it)

Maybe I'll get to plague my niece (or niece's husband) with the same faded If Onlys in years to come.....

I sometimes think about what I'd do if I all of a sudden found myself rolling in dough. Occasionally I comment about it to hubby or anyone else who happens to be around when I'm doing it.

It's not unusual though I guess. I like to talk about all my fantasies.

At this point you put on your best Clodfobble smile and look her in the eye and sweetly say:
"Yep. And if your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle."

the IRS is really the only one who cares, in fact. Maybe a few telelmarketers.

Honey, we go through this everytime something bad happens to you, remember? It was because you were a republican in your past life.
