June 8, 2008: Ramblin' Wrecks

Ramblin' Wrecks that are not from Georgia Tech.
These ramblin' wrecks are from China.

Now if your car gets a tree, boulder, or building dropped on it, you'd call your insurance company and look for a new or used replacement. No problem, there's a glut of them on the car lots.

In China, I don't know if they are insured, But I do know there are less replacements available.
What do you do? Drive it.

The second one appears to be a Citroen. I think they're supposed to look like that.

Haaa! And I don't even know what's wrong with Citroens. (Besides the name always reminding me of "lemon.")

I like its back right wheel--candidate, just possibly, for uneven tread wear.

Notice how one is slanted to the right and one to the left. Which side of the road do they drive on in China?

They appear to be driving on the right, except Hong Kong.
Probably because Japan drives on the left.

Damage like that would render the mirrors ineffective. Too.

Somebody found a great way to get better gas mileage out of their Citroen by making it more aerodynamic, reducing drag. Them Chinese is clever!

I had that happen to a K car once. It was parked outside a factory during a blizzard, and the wind blew the top of a smoke stack off, and it landed on the front driver's side. I would have been in it, as it was just after 5 pm, but someone asked me to check a machine on the second floor, just as I was leaving. It was a company car, so I called the boss, and he asked if it was drivable, and if so, drive it home. So, drove 30 miles home with no windshield, and scruched down to fit under the scrunched roof, in a blizzard. Just thankful that I got diverted before it all happened, or I would be a foot or two shorter now, or six feet under.
