Just curious...

Why can't the fan blow on the candy? Is it freshly-made? Unpackaged bulk candy? Gourmet, never-been-fanned candy?

I want candy.

The Candy Fan
(apologies to Sammy Davis, Jr.

Who can take some candy, bathe it in a breeze
Cover it with coolness just as gently as you please
The Candy Fan, oh the Candy Fan can
The Candy Fan can 'cause it mixes up the air makes the wind feel good

Who can take some taffy, wrap it 'round itself
Stretch it on the table and try to burn the little elf
The Candy Fan, the Candy Fan can
The Candy Fan can 'cause he nixes it from above and makes the shorties sweat good

The Candy Fan makes everything he bakes 'frigerated and suspicious
Now you talk about your childhood wishes, you can even chip your tooth-es

Oh, who can pour some carmel, dip into the stream
Separate the skin and make you blister 'til you scream
The Candy Fan, oh the Candy Fan can
The Candy Fan can 'cause he circulates the air and makes your skin feel good

The Candy Fan makes everything that bakes cooler than it was before
Open up the kitchen door, then let's watch the smoke outpour

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Who can take marshmallows, stab them with a stick
Put them in the fire, first they're burning then they're black
The Candy Fan, the Candy Fan can
The Candy Fan can 'cause he tries to blow them out but he makes them blaze instead
Yes, the Candy Fan can 'cause he thought it'd be good, but now they taste like wood
a-Candy Fan, a-Candy Fan, a-Candy Fan
Candy Fan, a-Candy Fan, a-Candy Fan
Candy Fan, a-Candy Fan, a-Candy Fan

Wow! fascinating story about her and the band and the connections and influences they had.

She's Burmese. (now Myanmar)

Re: The Candy Fan...

Also: I really am wondering why the fan can't blow on the candy, btw.

I'm guessing that the candy is still drying/sticky, and you wouldn't want any extra dust or other particles being blown onto the surface.

Or maybe it's just too costly to change the ingredients label.

Nah, as long as it's less than 2% of the whole, they don't legally have to include it on the ingredients list. That's why you often see "contains less than 2% of" on labels: they're letting you know what a good company they are by disclosing even the stuff they don't have to. Just another in a long line of bullshit food laws.

If they put it on the labels, they can spin it into a marketing strategy of their product having terrior (e.g. wine, coffee, chocolate ... etc.):

Quote:
... Terroir can be very loosely translated as "a sense of place," which is embodied in certain characteristic qualities, the sum of the effects that the local environment has had on the production of the product. Terroir is often italicized in English writing to show that it is a French loanword. ...
