Bozo Filter?

I am not familiar with the capabilities of vBulletin, but is it possible to have a "bozo filter" ? A "bozo filter" might include an ability to filter out posts from undesirables or maybe tag certain threads if an undesirable posts in it. A "bozo" would be defined in a user's preferences.

I haven't thought it through completely, obviously, but I wanted to ask.

But who gets to decide who the bozos are?

Unfortunately, there are some really sharp folks on this list who come to be considered as bozos at one time or another, depending on the subject matter at hand.

A bozo is defined in the user's preferences. So, the user defines who the bozos are for that user.

Ahh...similar to a kill file for Outlook? I see now.

The only problem with that would be that you'd see a bunch of people arguing with Radar, but you wouldn't know what caused it.

Yeah, you can put someone on your ignore list by viewing their profile and clicking on the appropriate link. Or you can just add names manually to a list in your User CP. Then, whenever one of their posts would appear in a thread, you see:

This person is on your Ignore List. To view this post click here

I personally would rather it just said "To view this post, click here". The first sentence is unnecessary and annoying, especially if that person posts a lot. I don't want to be constantly reminded that they're on my ignore list. I already know!

That's just my opinion, though. I actually haven't had to use the feature for a while.

The Cellar Dwellars them(our)selves act as a very efficient bozofilter.

Most bozos run yelping into the hills like a coyote shot in the ass. People who aren't actually bozos make it past this occasional baptism by fire and become valued members of the community.

Of course, then you have radar. Exception that proves the rule.

I still admire his persistence, even if I think he's goofy beyond description.

Thanks, everyone. I'll investigate the "Ignore" feature.
