My mother, sister, and I all exchanged very similar mirrors and shelves from Pottery Barn, which was a little eerie... apparently our shopping habits are genetic. I got a bunch of clothes and other boring stuff - but the kids got some really cool shit. Spencer got Robosapien, a Gamboy advanced, and several hundred (or thousand, I'm not sure, they're everywhere) Yu-gi-oh! cards. Ippy got a portable dvd player, lots of plastic jewelry and glitter powder, and a puppet theater that hangs in a doorway.

Showing that they both care about me, both Jacquelita and Katkeeper got me black-colored jackets. Different types of jackets, for different conditions/situations, so it's actually great: one fleece, and one leather. My previous jackets were in poor condition and/or showed my poor fashion sense.

I was going to make a witty comment about no matter how cool a bass player you are, you're still a programmer at heart. Then I realized that the fashion senses of extremely cool bass players and programmers are effectively similar, as are many other of their personal habits ...

Nothing to see here, move along.

I got a bunch of nice stuff, but was most excited with a kitchen garbage can I got. I know. A garbage can. But it's really nice. It's a foot pedal one that actually opens up past vertical. When you take your foot off the pedal, the lid slowly drops down with a dampener. The can (and lid) are made of metal, which is heavier, so the can won't shift around when you step on the pedal.

It just works.

I don't want to know what my wife paid for it, but I was shocked when I looked for this picture and saw what they charge on-line.

Funny you should say that... I bought an 80 last year as a pit bike, and every time I take it over to my Dad's, I can't keep him off of it. I keep telling him to get one, but that hasn't happened yet. He just got a 250X instead.

They are way too much fun. Especially the little ones. I have more fun on my 80 than on the big bikes.

I took the $20 megamall gift card, combined it with a $25 card I got from my employer for my one year of employment (wheeee!), and spent them both very, very wisely.

I am now watching The Who at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970 in 5.1 surround, digitally restored, and sonically remastered by Townshend himself from the original 8-track tapes.

There's a reason I play guitar the way I do. It is Pete's fault. Everything I arrange or hear in my head tends to be affected by my Who affliction. Watching this video reminds me why.

They are all so young. Entwistle is the greatest rock bass player of all time. And no one...*no one*...compared to Keith Moon. He was freaking inhuman.

I also bought "I Robot", and will enjoy that in bed tonight. As I said, I spent my gift cards wisely.

I got to avoid spending time with family for the holidays because I have mono... needless to say, the mono was sort of a gift in that sense. If you like your family, I guess those 3 days were great. My family is nuts.

Anything you can enjoy in bed, is a wise purchase.
