The Big One

It's been wicked cold here for quite a spell but the snow has been limited until...

Snow Is Expected To Begin Late This Afternoon... And Become Heavy At Times Late Tonight And During The Day Wednesday. The Snow Will Taper Off To Snow Showers Early Evening Wednesday.

By The Time The Snow Ends Wednesday Night... 16 To 24 Inches Of Snow Accumulation Is Possible.

I think we are going to get lucky down here in VA and the southern edge of the storm is going to pass just above here.

Don't forget to load up on Ramen and toilet paper. And beer. Lots of beer.

Hard liquor is better, beer might freeze.

Ours has been "re-sized" several times and currently they're back to 8" with lots of blowing.

I feel lucky

I hope so. The problem with being near the transition between the rain and snow is often you get ice. I'd much rather have two feet of snow than a half an inch of ice.

That's why you were thrown out (again), you kept alarming the girls, they thought you were having a heart attack.

Nice timing on the before pic Spex. I should have done that before leaving the house.

Over here, it's pathetic. About a week ago we got a whole centimeter of snow, only to be washed away by the rain that followed that night. *snorts*

If any of you happen to have any excessive snow.. ship some my way, will you?

If I had 8" with lots of blowing, I'd feel pretty damn lucky, too.

I awaked to our typical lack of the storm of the century which had been predicted for this area. My back porch had less snow on it than Spexxvet's as of noon today.

Had to go out to the grocery store, of course I went once it had "really started" snowing, meaning that there were more than flurries. No crowd at the market, which was nice, made the ultimate in grocery store faux pas (had more that 15 items, didn't realize I'd loaded my stuff up on an express lane), and returned home without incident. County Emergency Dispatch sent a message to my pager saying that we'd receive 2-4 inches of snow, and that the changeover to sleet and freezing rain would occur around 2100 to 2300 hrs tonight, with heavy accumulation expected.

County Dispatch is way better than Accuweather.

I am very glad that I am not at work right now.

I have plenty of beer.
