Given the fact that most U.S. Veterans are against the war in Iraq and would support Kerry (A man who didn't dodge the draft, and who didn't use his daddy's influence to get out of Vietnam) over Bush who spent his time defending Texas from Oklahoma until he eventually deserted from even that, the odds are Kerry will win those states.

I doubt would be either a "given" or a "fact."

Ask 100 Vietnam combat vets whether or not they think we should be at war with Iraq and see what they say. I personally am a vet (not a vietnam vet or a combat vet) but I'm against it and so are the vast majority of all vets I know, especially those who have seen combat.
Here's a website, you might be interested in... Veterans Against the Iraq War

See you, and raise you:
http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnkerry.com/ http://www.vnsfvetakerry.com/ http://www.vetsagainstkerry.org/ http://vikingphoenix.com/e2004/vietn...ainstkerry.htm http://www.ussyorktown.com/yorktown/kerry.htm I stopped after the first page of googled sites. You get the idea. Actually, I give radar a certain amount of leeway, given that he is in California, and finding opinions that stray from the liberal party line, so to speak, is difficult.

Sorry, but most of the evidence I have is from actual Vets, all over America, not just in CA. And the vast majority of them are against the war in Iraq. And most will vote for Kerry even though they don't like him, because they can't stand Bush.
They will vote for the lesser of two evils, and that is Kerry. http://www.interventionmag.com/cms/m...rticle&sid=469 http://www.veteransforcommonsense.org http://www.vvaw.org http://www.onlisareinsradar.com/archives/001144.php http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=14067 http://www.buzzflash.com/contributor...3/27_vets.html http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Articl...AgainstWar.htm http://www.veteransforpeace.org

Even if you were right and every last one of Texas' 1.8 million veterans (I wonder if they count the homeless ones) supported Kerry... Kerry would still not win this state. Can't speak for the other states, but I live in the most liberal of Texas cities and I can still tell you that anti-Bush sentiment here is not what you wish it were.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Vets actually like Kerry, but they dislike Bush so much they'll vote for him anyway. And Texas is backwards in virtually all issues anyway. They are a non-factor. TX and much of the south will go to Bush as they tend to be poorly educated in the South, and NY, CA, IL, MA, FL, OR, WA, NH, etc. belong to Kerry.
Bush will get the states with very few electoral votes and lots of hicks and hillbillies, while Kerry will get the highly populated states with large cities. Kerry will win NY, IL & CA for sure. That's 107 electoral votes alone. That's equal to TX, GA, VA, IN, MO, AL, MS, KS, and AK combined. Kerry will carry the small northern states, and the Great Lake States too. Here's how things currently stack up, and you can find a state by state discussion. http://www.latimes.com/news/politics...-test-fl.flash http://www.latimes.com/news/politics...page.htmlstory

Don't count your electoral votes before they are cast.

Bush better win AGAIN (I love saying that!), or the entire world will go to hell in a handbasket.
Just ask yourself... Who would the terrorists like to see as President? Vote the opposite. |

Interesting stuff, HM. The one state that surprises me is my native Missouri. Plus 11 for Bush? Wow...Missouri is usually never that decisive.
