Makes me wonder if you've really gotten a lot of good healthy help and info here?

If you’d looked around before you joined you’d have noticed that there’s a lot of fucking this, and not-safe-for-work posts, and women being asked to get their tits out for the lads. It’s always been here, and if it’s not to your taste no-one forced you to join in.
So please don’t be surprised or offended about it, we didn’t hide it from you till you arrived. You chose to join us.

Well Limey I didn't investigate the threads before I joined...trusted the person who brought me in as a like minded soul that I would associate with. I'm not offended, and yes surprised but one keeps learning until DEAD...so it's been a lesson for sure.

And could be that the person who invited me here, had no idea I would be treated so poorly...maybe that's not happened in this forum for some time or never or who the H knows.

This Forum is basically generally good, and if a person joined yrs ago maybe that is the key....but a person who is positive and holistically minded does NOT have a chance and to be 82, good lord...how does an 82 keep up on forums....

You probably envision an 82 yr old in a recliner glued to Fox or whatever nonsense on the tube.

And freedom. We hate that too :P

My mum is in her late 70s and she would absolutely not be fazed by this place.

Age - is only a factor if you make it so.

- as for holistically minded: there's nothing wrong with that.

Forgive me for tromping in to a discussion that has already apparently run itself into the ground - but over the past couple of days i have seen a lot of allegations against the community because of your experience here, and that draws my attention.

- Your experience is your own - I cannot nor would I seek to tell you that you did not have a horrible experience when you came in here and posted your truth

But, your experience is not indicative of how any and every individual with your opinions would be treated in the Cellar.

Right now - there is a high to middling chance that a new person coming in and spreading what a large number of members consider to be dangerous misinformation will not be greeted with open arms and a willing spirit of discourse. Because right now, everybody has an immediate stake in the issue and tensions are simmering at every level of society.

We are and have always been a strong community at our core - though there are times when that falters for a spell. But we are not immune to the cultural powder keg a lot of people are currently living in.

Ordinarily, someone posting about fringe alternative medicines and the evils of Big Pharma would be met with a range of responses from gentle mockery, through savage commentary and genuine interest - and then the conversation would veer of into uncharted territory as everyone gets distracted by something shiny

We live in extraordinary and highly divided times.

It is very easy to push buttons in such an atmosphere.

Or maybe that person is clueless AF, buddy. You don't do the research, you pay the consequences.

You have treated this forum very poorly. Only an idiot would not expect it to defend itself.

And -FYI- it is immensely vulgar behavior to use initials of or substitutes for "bad" words. The damage lies in the intent and in using anything at all, not in the actual verbiage. If you wish to use a "swear" word, the most polite thing is just to do so. If there are juveniles present, it may be more appropriate to swear in a language they do not yet understand, e.g. French. I can recommend several etiquette books (most not written by doctors as far as I know), if you would like to research that for yourself. That said, nothing wrong with a good bit of vulgarity -one of the oldest forms of humor and we all know laughter is the best medicine. Have a Blessed Day.
