My Town: As Seen by Others
This was a nice travel report to read. I was getting kind fed up by the place being dissed for snobbery, hippiedom and too much damn money.

The Univ of Michigan @ Ann Arbor has for many, many years had the best of reputations among state public health, CDC, and NIH for work done there on immunizations and their years of actually producing vaccines that are distributed worldwide. Although vaccine production has now been moved to private and over-seas companies, there is still the institutional memory at work in Ann Arbor, as recognized by a grant last year from the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation. |

According to google scholar, Ann Arbor is the author of 1,360 academic articles across a wide range of fields.
How could you diss a town with a research publication record like that?

My favorite thing about Ann Arbor is the fairy doors.
Urban Fairies Yeah, not very intellectual or whatever.

There's at my pottery studio. I don't think it's listed on the website, though. There are so many of them now -the originator of the site is a local teacher. Our kids have done fairy door field trips and my daughter had a fairy door party one year. I found some cabinet door samples at The Scrap Box -they were perfect.

Sloan museum
This looks to be an interesting museum. It's not quite my home town -it's in Flint, about 60 miles north, but I think we have some hockey games coming up up there, so might have to make a detour.
