lol merc! i know what it's like. been around snakes in the country most of my life. 5343 acres in south texas and later on 107 in central texas. only on my old farm i only saw one western diamond back. mostly there were copperheads and water moccasins. but quail and dove hunting down in south texas required eyes in the sky and on the ground. many a time stumbled across the snakes in the brush. they'd rattle and i'd roll on outta there.

I have a big ole copperhead that lives in my wood pile. I leave him alone, he leaves me alone. Rattlers will bite my dogs because they make noise and give them a reason to investigate. My cattle dog got bit by a big ole rattlesnake last year. We freaked. But after talking to some other owners of Aussie Cattle Dogs they seem to be very resilient to snake bites, even if it does put them under the weather for a week or so. Sure would have saved me a bunch of money if I would have know that at the time since he was bitten on a Sunday. Emergency Vet bills are expensive.

I did have some coldsore lotion yesterday, but I lost it.
I have a sneaking suspicion Diz has spirited it away - it's the sort of dinky size he loves to play with. What bugs me most is that all four came up, at once, overnight. It's not like I cross-infected myself. My extensive experience is that once they have blistered you're pretty much done anyway, it will run its course regardless. Next thing I have to look forward to is the next three scabbing. And then the fun as I smile, or sing, or open my mouth to eat, and all the scabs crack and bleed! Hurray! Oh and re the photo. My top lip looks a little odd, but that is my slightly dry top lip, normal size, including the little gap. My bottom lip is usually of a similar size and is just monstrously enlarged by the herpes simplex, three in blister mode and one already scabby. Should this be in NSFW?! |
