Business School Graduate does what he was Taught

Martin Shkreli did exactly what is taught in business schools - make a profit. So he raised the price of a cancer drug from $13 to $750, in part, because that is what companies more interested in profits than the product routinely do.

View another industry where the product (not profits) are more important. The original 8080 microprocessor sold for $360 in 1974. By 1979, it was selling for $3 to $4. Eventually that prices slowly increases by less than $10. Because that is how all productive companies operate.

The drug industry is now dominated by business school graduates. So prices constantly increase for a product that has no up front development costs. Why? Enriching top management (screw the consumer) is only important.

The entire semiconductor industry operated in a patriotic American manner - or what innovators do. The new product is initially expensive to pay for the R&D. Then the price drops to what it really costs to only manufacturer it. Eventually, as that product becomes obsolete, then its price slowly increases by tiny amounts.

The drug industry is not product oriented - not competitive. They have no more R&D costs. Why do prices increase? Martin Shkreli is a business school graduate and a former hedge fund manager. So products are only about enriching his Central Committee of the Communist Party - himself and top management. He did exactly what is taugh in business schools where innovation has no value or relevance.
