This thread was the SDRTP pick of the day. I thought it was a good idea, but it doesn't seem like it went anywhere.

I've spent the last 10 years or so as an engineer in the field of renewable energy - working primary in biomass heat and power.

HLJ, did you read Michael Yon's dispatch on biogas digesters in Nepal? I thought they were interesting and exciting, but aside from farting a lot, I have no sense of the reality of things: Gobar Gas, unabridged

Thanks gvidas, I hadn't read that but I just started it.

I've worked a little with anaerobic digesters at a hog farm here in Colorado, and did some investigation of AD on dairy farms, so I know just a little about the technology.

It's interesting that you brought that up because I was just discussing AD with some people from the Department of Homeland Security this afternoon.

Are you kidding? Maybe not in this thread (but it'd be sorta confusing with all people posting requests for diffferent types of advice and all the answers in the same thread), but I've seen the experts here helping people in the other threads with all sorts of questions -especially Jim with the car buying stuff.

I'm an expert in finding ways round things and scheduling. And a bit knowledgeable about non-profits and the politics involved. (ugh)

I run a beer and wine store in a hotel here in town. <-It pays the rent.

I am a certified Esthetican with 20 years experience (facials, pedicures, manicures, body wraps, waxing, electrolosis, lash/brow dyes, make up artistry)
I also do crystal healing, rune readings etc... <-hard to break into this field in this town, seems there is a salon on every corner.

My husband and I are just starting a web store for lingerie and adult toys, costumes and club wear. We do home parties as well. <- this is what we want to be doing!

Special education assistant,dorm counselor, H.T.T, American sign language translator,deaf/blind asl translator and sometimes computer lab and school library assistant and sometime retail worker to get through the summers when needed.

Now I am unemployed and retraining in computer software applications because those above services just keep getting,cut-cut cut and possibly the ones I am training for now.
*shrug*

My flecking bleeding heart got me here.

I am up to my eyebrows in cuts.

I love this thread. So great to see such a variety of things people do.

I'm a perpetual college student, myself, gone back after working for ten years. I've done market research(phones, person to person, business to business, focus groups, etc), quality assurance for cable TV (i got paid to watch TV, no kidding), worked in a government mail room during the anthrax scares, worked in a data mine, done data processing, been a medical assistant, security guard, and I love to cook. I volunteer with a local animal shelter, so know a little bit about animal health and handling. I can run a LAMP server, program a bit, build a computer, and raise insect larvae for fun. The Bobs say hi. (All my larvae are named Bob. They like to eat carrots. And each other.)

I also like long walks on the beaches, world peace, and kitty cats.

frighteningly deep. definitely no windows, secure facility, the works. every day we went down to the mines and came out, a grimy coat of data dust from head to toe. a lot of people got sick from Data Lung - all those loose bytes and no PPE to speak of. You just breathed it in and got sicker and sicker. Horrible place.
