3/18/2006: Mutt Muffs

Strange New Products, always fun, offers up this happy one. This particular strange new product is called "Mutt Muffs". The images here are from that product website. The images and the whole idea are appealing, and yet pretty useful as well.

If you've ever been in a little buzzy Cessna, you know how loud it can get. Pilots exchange hints on the best headsets so they don't all go deaf.

But what about the dogs? They need hearing protection too. And so comes this invention, Mutt Muffs.

Otherwise how can they enjoy the fine scenery? Remember that dogs' ears are pretty sensitive, especially at the higher frequencies that are probably being generated by that engine and all that wind.

And they don't really take away any of your dog's dignity.

Imagine if your dog got a set for Christmas! He or she would love it!

One of the comments at Strange New Products says
Quote:
I got to see these in action this week. The dog jumped right "into" the muffs as if it was the fun thing to do.
Sounds good to me!

I have noticed that if you blow into a dog's ear, it invariably sneezes. Therefore, when the dog is hanging out the window, air gets into it's ears, and it turns to you and sneezes. Someone please send me a pair, while I clean the phlegm off my face.

"Flying dogs"? hmmmm....
After getting over the misleading thread title, I'm impressed. I can barely get my dogs to wear a collar.

I wonder if this sort of thing could be used to keep the dog from being an annoying nuisance. Some dogs tend to bark at everything that makes any noise outside the home and well, if they can't tell there's noise being made...

Hey, that dog's gotta get more serious about attending to the cockpit controls instead of looking out the window!
