Quicktime problem

I'm hoping someone in the Cellar can help me with an error box that keeps flashing up and is getting harder and harder to remove.

120:qttask.exe-no disk
Ther is no disk in drive please insert a disk into\device\harddisk\dr10.

The number is not always the same either.

I have unchecked the start up which kills it for a while but any time a site I'm in has anything to do with Quicktime up she pops and its driving me mental.

Was gonna uninstall Q/time and re install back but rec'd another error message advising against..tried to reinstall Q/time over it to update but that didn't work either.
Any ideas would be great but don't get too technical please

Google is your friend, embrace him warmly! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&h...o+disk&spell=1 Specifically, this might help: http://support.its.ied.edu.hk/stufaq/5.56.html.

However, before you do the above, you might want to back up your registry first: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...rc=sec_doc_nam

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction

You could also try one of the alternative media players with their mega codec packs. They may have better success at removing the old software and they don't suck.

Yeah, k++ Lite Media Codec Pack (with Media Player Classic) is awesome. I use it for playing xvid/divx (common), 3ivx (rarely used), and DVDs. It's exactly what I want in a media player (to play media and not be flashy about it!)

But I've found they aren't always as compatible as they may appear to be. I've had a couple of problems where I couldn't play a .mov file.

While we're on the subject, I use Zoom Player, and I recently moved from an All-in-Wonder to a USB TV Wonder. Stuff recorded on the All-In-Wonder (in mpg) works fine, but stuff recorded in the TV Wonder (also mpg) plays for a second, then crashes Zoom Player. Both play fine in Media Player. Any ideas?

If it looks like a duck, walks and quacks like a duck, it must be the same duck, right? Well, no They could be 2 different ducks. The point I'm trying to make is just because they both record in mpg doesn't mean they're using the same version of the codec or the same settings. I would open both files in gspot (I wouldn't trust this site too much, I just used it as an example of the program) and compare them.

Gspot told me it was using some sort of Nero codec. I installed FFDShow's filter/codec pack, and all is right.
