Love that building! I remember having a great time sketching there with my studio class, back in college.

Oh! I've been there! We were visiting a friend in DC, and we went there to see an exhibit on building materials. They had a sample of that concrete that lets light through, it was featured in an IoTD once. But overall the exhibit seemed kind of low-quality--there was one writeup that referred to Thomas Jefferson as being like one of today's "early adapters" of technology, and we told some woman working there that they meant "early adopter," but she just nodded and looked like she couldn't care less. We were kind of confused why such a small and awkward exhibit would be in that giant, nice building. But we did enjoy our lunch in the little cafe.

I saw that exhibit with the translucent concrete. I think it's probably the coolest thing they have ever had in that museum. It was free then, but now you would have to pay $8 to see that exhibit. You can wander around the building for free though.

Translucent concrete? What will they think of next, opaque glass, malleable iron, hard rubber?
It's a slippery slope, people!

Looks like it was 8 years ago and hasn't taken off yet.
I remember at the time thinking that it wasn't remotely practical. |

Here's a pic of me getting an award from the mayor tonight at the Board meeting.

My weight changes so much based upon fluid retention. I guess I had just pee'd alot today. The award was a National Guard Bureau support recognition. No biggie, but I don't think ya'll have ever seeen me in my real cop uniform since I mainly wear polos & khakis (class B uniform).
I hope it doesn't make too many of the women on here swoon. I'm especially worried about IM
