Why did you come to the Cellar?

Why did you come to the Cellar?

What brought you upon this website?

Who directed you to this link?

How did you come about this virtual space?

Me, I came because I was searching the Internet for relationship advice (wtf right?) and I came upon some internet forums. So I figured I should get involved in one that looked nice and casual. And here I am, maybe liked, definitely hated, but still representing my own outlook on life, liberty and the pursuit of relationship advice.

edit: sorry if this thread already exists, damnit

I came here through some posters on another forum which closed down. Those other posters are no longer here, but I remain.

I dropped in randomly, read threads for awhile, bookmarked the site and have been coming back daily ever since.

Are you an Ex UOer? If not then the Safe Haven ref is pure coincidence:P

I actually cannot recall how I first ended up here. I have a vague recollection of a friend of mine (ex-guildmate from when I was into gaming) telling me about some forum that he used to go on and wind people up pretending to be a really right-wing, neo-con type. Not sure, but that might have been the Cellar he was talking about.

That's why I sometimes suspect people like UG of being fake:P

That may be why I came here......or it might not...i can't recall.

What I do recall, is that I was living on my own for the first time, had also fallen off the gaming circuit, and was trawling the internet, fairly bored, on a fairly regular basis. Either way, I ended up in the Cellar, at a time when I was most in need of an easily accessible and engaging community. What was strange about the Cellar, was that unlike most forums I'd meandered through, the Cellar drew me back. It feels not dissimilar to the kind of dynamic involved in some gaming communities, rather than the usual forum dynamic.

I was searching for the "military authorization act" (or whatever it was called) and found this.

Probably an IotD that was linked somewhere else, but I can't remember. Through Fark maybe?

I was at a crossroads in my life and was seeking input, advise, thoughts from outside my norm. For awhile I siply drifted thruogh, but became more engaged the more I read. I found it to be a great place to interact with people from very different backgrounds all over the world with whom I would have no other chance of interacting. The differing perspectives and opinions are very enlightening.

If I recall correctly, I followed a Fark link to the IotD my first time in. I returned occassionally for more images and started reading some, too. After the better part of two years had passed I realized I was stopping by to read quite often and had a couple of thoughts to post so I finally registered.

I Googled something and the cellar came up as the second or third link. I can't remember what the search was for. That will drive me crazy the rest of the day.
