Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

So - there is a new attempt at bringing this character to the screen...

Please, please don't fuck it up.

The last attempt was ok...the lead character, played by Stephen Mangan felt suitably Dirk Gentlylike, but overall as a production it felt flat.

I have my doubts about any adaptation really - it's such a bizarre story and I feel like it would just become a slightly oddball detective tale the moment it gets to a screen.

The promo has not relieved me of that doubt.

I wonder if they'll tell the Dirk Gently story, with the electronic Monk and the multidimensional element, or just take the character and do something entirely different with it.

definitely sounds like they're gonna do something completely different with it, but if it's a series (it is a series right?) then they might include some of that.

That looks interesting. I have to admit, many of my favorite series are from BBC.

OMG!....

Waiting with baited breath.

The book was an awesome (no other words); It was very different from Douglas Adams' writing for the HHGTTG trilogy (5/3).... almost like a different person wrote it....

Waiting...Hoping...

This was the previous attempt:

It got some of the tone right, I thought, but it wasn't brilliant
