Oct 28, 2010: Signs of the Times

Artist Norm Magnusson is developing The I-75 Project.
I believe he's a serious professional artist, since he got paid $2,000 to paint one of those fiberglass cows they displayed around NYC.

Quote:
Interstate-75 begins in Sault St Marie, Michigan on the Canadian border. After leaving Michigan, it doesn’t touch another blue state. It’s 1,775 miles from top to bottom with about 50 rest stops.
The I-75 Project would place historical markers with social and political content in each of these rest stops.
My goal is not to incite, but to inspire thought amongst those who travel on this route.
Here's a sample...

Personally, I think if he actually does this, the signs won't stay up long.
The Interstate Highway rest stops are usually pretty heavily patrolled, and if they have rest rooms, maintenance people
are either there, or visit at least once a day.

There's a very good chance he'll get his ass arrested.

I took this picture on October 18, 2006 in Woodstock NY. Route 212, the main street through that hippy town. The pole is the same pole as in the second picture in the original post. The tree bark is identical. Looks like mine was removed, and replaced with the sign about Robert Hass.

Right. Nothing you said could be considered polarizing at all. You're not taking any obvious stance one anything. All you want to do is provide information so people can think amongst themselves and still come up with their own opinion based on their own beliefs and opinions...right.

Where's the website where we can make our own? Like the church signs. A Historical Marker Generator. There must be one. Isn't that rule 52.3 of the interwebs? "If it has words, there will be a website where you can create your own to insult your co-bulletin-boarders"

They look like they're cast, probably aluminum. Whoever made them, if it wasn't Magnusson, probably cast a number of them.
They would probably have a better chance of survival on private property, than on interstate rest areas.

You are obviously already polarized.
