PC Gaming: Dragon Age Origins
Not sure that whether you guys are interested in PC games or not. Lately I have been killing lots of time with these brain eaters and found them in fact quite addictive. Last decade or so has seen these games to evolve from mere pixel programming to a complete new direction for art.
Prince of Persia (new edition), Resident Evil series and lately Dragon Age Origins have wonderfully crafted story lines, game play and animation/graphics. .......just here to discuss if you have been into this territory recently and have you stumbled on to something that caused you to shout "Oh Snap!" (as gamespot.com reviewers would have exclaimed).

The evolution of games and gaming is a subject that fascinates me. We recently had the game baftas (awards ceremony) in the UK and some of the entrants were amazing. There's one, I think it might be called Flower, where you play a breeze, which blows petals through the air. Charlie Brooker did a really nice review of it, in which he said it was strangely moving.
I love the way games are starting to get past the geeky image now. Dara O'Briain (an Irish comedian and commentator) was interviewed at the awards and said that games no longer have to be apologetic. They are bigger business than music or cinema, and have come a hell of a long way since the days of Frogger. They are a valid form of cultural and artistic expression.

My current play:
For action, Battlefield 2 (switching to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 very soon now) For a funny, but really sophisticated kind of chess: Plants vs Zombies For deep sports strategy: Football Manager 2010 For true gaming design excellence: a replay of the ancient XCOM:UFO Defense And I have played Nethack for 23 years and never beaten it. |

Portal is awesome.
Spelunky is a fun platformer with (very) minor Nethacky elements

XCOM is $4.99 on Steam, for those people with access to Steam. There isn't a better deal anywhere. The game is so old it's funny, but it's still chilling at times.

That moment of uncertainty when you were taking a step into the darkness *slight shudder*, brilliant. That whole line of sight thing was such a nice innovation.

I play a lot of games on kongregate. I think some of them are like some of the games you are talking about...like rpgs and stuff?

Sounds very very interesting. You have some web links for this game? Is it being developed for PC users?

There's this game "Mass Effect 2": deep space sci-fi based story. Seems to be a real addictive RPG. Got a chance to have a look at it for few moments (purchased it yesterday only) and all I can do was exclaim "Ah Snap!"
