Corned Beef

I'm cooking corned beef for dinner tonight, and I just tasted the broth that the meat has been cooking in for the last hour or so.

It was so good I actually drew off a cup and drank it like soup.

Is that weird?

No.

What would have been weird is if you covered yourself in the broth, strapped the corned beef to the top of your head, and danced on the dinner table singing a medley of showtunes.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Ali I once ate a third of a bottle of brown sauce. On its own. And I wasn't pregnant.
I can also quite happily finish off the dish of mint sauce they put out for lamb on Sundays, because it's vinegar based.

Nothing savoury is weird to me.

Very weird...ya pregnant craving freak!!

That stuff is nasty.

I do my corned beef in the slow cooker now....water, half cup of vinegar, mustard seeds and pepper...sometimes lemon.

I have heard a can of coke is a great addition.

Savory.....mmmmmmm.

I love the butter, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and garlic salt combination used to make homemade chex mix.

Oh man, any worcestershire-based sauce, I'm all over.

I used to sneak spoonfuls of it when I was a kid--while raw steak was currently marinating in it. It's a wonder I'm still alive.

Well I don't know if it was because i was craving the salty vinegary taste with the mustard and brown sugar and stuff, or if it just really tasted good. It was after the meat was cooked, so there was a good deal of flavour from the meat in it as well.

And anyway, I'm not a freak!
