Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetary Photo Credit: Joseph Sohm/Visions of America/Corbis On the last Monday of May, Americans honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It was originally known as Decoration Day and was first observed in Waterloo, NY, in 1861. It became an official federal holiday in 1971. |
