Madden 25 arrived at casa del lumber on Tuesday.

It's pretty gorgeous on the big screen.

Are those hard to play, jim? They look so real and i wonder how you can control all the players and stuff. Much as i love football i would like to try. I may get a game machine when i get my moola.

Not hard to play at all. You control one player at a time, and that player has a blue ring on his feet. You can start as the running back or the quarterback, you can even have two guys playing on the same team and each of you controls one player.

The typical setup is that you are the quarterback, you snap the ball, drop back and watch your receivers. Your receivers each have an assigned letter and color that correspond with the controller. So if you see your left wide receiver running free you hit the blue X button and the quarterback throws him the ball. If you just tap the button, it lobs the ball, if you squash the button it throws a bullet. Once the receiver makes the catch, you are then in control of him. And you run to the end zone

You can switch players midstream also.

If you get an Xbox, we can play online against each other. How cool would that be?

You could even re-enact matchups from the Cellar Fantasy Football league!

That would be the awesome. It might take me a few months to understand the controls. I COULD reenact FF games if I don't mind losing. Which i do.

seriously, not sure what's going on with my ff team. I'm wingin' it!

Thumbs up

thread resurrection!

SonofV is a *dedicated* Xbox player.

Dedicated.

Earlier this fall, he took delivery of a game he'd pre-ordered, "GTA V". He installed the game and the updates and started playing. I sat on the couch and watched in dumbstruck amazement. Now, I've seen a lot of games, played a lot of games. We have a nice tv (that makes a big difference) but I've never seen a game that was as beautifully realistic as this one. Not the gameplay (gangster supervillian criminality abounds), but the scenery, the character rendering and the voice acting are all unsurpassed. I used to live in Southern California, where the fictional Los Santos takes its inspiration and watching the game evoked a visceral nostalgia of my time in SoCal.

The gameplay is excellent as well, and comes in two distinct kinds--story mode and online. Both are highly playable, with high replay value too. I enjoyed the experience of the game, just watching SonofV play so much that I went out and bought my own Xbox and copy of GTA V for myself. Now I could play, and even better, the fun I had as SonofV's wingman/kibitzer could be multiplied by joining him online for multiplayer heists. I'd drive and he'd shoot. Or he'd drive and I'd navigate, etc, etc.

I've played it for several hours now, and I give it my highest recommendation. I'd love to play with others from here on the cellar, if you're game. PM me for my gamertag. You'll love it.

I'm not sure I'm following. You bought your own game console and game to play with him in the same house? So you are some where else in the house on a different tv, playing in the same multiplayer game with him?

Yes, I bought my own game console. It has replaced the prehistoric dvd/vhs player in my bedroom where I have a second tv (also nice). We're both online at the same time, in different rooms which share a common wall. Interestingly, I can hear his voice when he speaks loudly (SH*T!) through the open door and a heartbeat later again through the headset. 's funny!

eta: Obviously, the multiplayer option works when separated by distances greater than the thickness of a bedroom/living room wall. Sometimes SonofV stays with his mom, who lives in the next county. When he's online there, and I'm online here, we can still play together. I just can't hear him cussing twice.
