It cracks me up that QE looks far happier taking a portrait with her beloved Corgis than with her Royal Consort!

The recent pic is obviously 'shopped . . . I think the Queen is too classy to mug with a couple of corgis wearing crowns.

You are totally right! I can see it now.

I knew she was put onto the background, but didn't notice the corgis weren't originals either. Now it is totally obvious. My bad.

I agree. Reminds me of how time changes us all and not to put older folks in a box by forgetting they were young once too.

If that is a corgi in the photo, it also illustrates how breeds can change over the decades. My Sealyham Terrier is considerably less stout of build than those in turn of the (20th) century photos.
