Playing with the new camera. This is the first video I've tried, other than just turning it on in the house. (It's actually the 9th video on the card.) YouTube ruins some of the quality. You can see the texture of the road a lot clearer on the 400MB original.

Oh!!!! It's the action camera! My niece got one for Christmas. Bloody awesome little gadget. I've never felt actual camera envy before lol

very cool video glatt!

One thing I've noticed with these GoPro (and the like) made videos is that for shots made from a fixed mount, which is most of them, excepting those made from the camera mounted on a handheld wand/staff/pole (usually used to get the thrillseeker's face in the frame) show a striking reversal of figure/ground.

Take your video for example, at the 0:20-0:23 mark. Your driveway shakes under the force of starting your mighty colossus of a four-banger. Of course, it's the car that's shaking, you noticed that when you were sitting in the car, everybody who watched the car start up saw the same thing. But your video (not yours, the effect of hardmounting the camera to something that shows in the frame) makes it seem like the car is still, and the world is shaking (same thing when you exit the car and go over bumps in the road, but less so). It's jarring.

I'm a dumb ass, but how did you mount under the car? Way nice.

There must be a way to mount them so that isn't as pronounced. My brother and his racing buddies all use them. Although half the time they're filming the inside of the car to learn where they fucked up after a wipeout, but I've seen a bunch of outside the car, from them, and on TV shows like Chasing Classic Cars.

Part of the deal with these is they come with all sorts of mounting options and there are lots of accessories. I used the clip for putting it on your baseball hat visor, and clipped it upside down to the lip of the bumper at the wheel well. In the menu, you can have it record upside down so you don't have to flip the video later in the computer.
