vaporizers - help!

I partake of the leafy herb most nights. Even my specialist admits - albeit reluctantly! - that it's less addictive and has less side effects than anti-anxiety medication. I like it because it is like a total mindfulness drug for me. It makes me focus completely on the present moment. I forget about all the horrors of the past, don't even think about the issues in the future, and for a few hours I am just right here, right now. There's the added bonus of it being a pain reliever, and I often have physical pain due to whatever, or tight muscles due to stress. I also suffer from nausea regularly, and it stops that too. All up, a helpful plant.

I am trying to stop smoking tobacco now, and bought a Magic Flight Box, then a Pax 2 vaporizer. In both cases... nothing. Lost some physical coordination and felt slightly woozy, but to quote Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill, "euphoria? no." Also no focus, no in-the-moment thing. So I am back to the old-fashioned method.

I feel massively disappointed and once again wonder why things that work for everyone else do not work for me. I have no idea how to find out about this sort of thing, but figure amongst the Cellarites there are bound to be some who know about these things. Also, I feel able to discuss it here without being judged. Haven't been here much for a long time, though, and don't know if the Cellar is still the non-judgemental place it used to be. I hope so, as I have no other forums where I could ask.

Hope one of you knows and can offer advice.

It WILL work for you! The key to the MFLB is using very dry materials with the finishing grinder, and then having a good technique. If you don't have the finishing grinder, use some other approach to get a finer grind (eggbeater? mortar and pestle? real sharp knife and a lot of time?). I bet the Pax is a similar case.

reddit.com/r/mflb , and check the "highly suggested reading" on the right-hand side.

(My official unsanctioned opinion is that Reddit is a shithole and they don't care about you like we do. They have people and information but no actual community.)

I believe it's WAY less judgemental than it was in 2008-2012. We were spitting on people souls back then.

That was a heartwarming response. Thanks you, UT. Well worth sitting up till 1:30am (as it is here underneath the planet).

Now, a few more questions. How do I dry it enough? Away from heat? in the open air? I used a clean coffee grinder to get it pretty fine. I'm sort of loathe to spend more money on a top quality grinder as the MFLB cost me about $180, and the Pax2 was $400. I'll be patient and try again. And will also check out the Reddit info.

Nice to know I still have a sort of home to go to here

All you should have to do is leave the flowers in the open air for a day or two, they will completely dry unless they were tremendously damp to begin with... then I imagine the coffee grinder would pulverize them.

The finishing grinder is really cheap at the mlfb store online... but the coffee grinder should do it I would think

It's not a rush, more like a slow calming feeling that results. And technique is a lot of it...

Never liked vaping much. Not my cup of, ahem, tea.

I'll hit a pipe/bong every now and then, but pretty much stick with the rice.

Search for Spice Grinders on Amazon. Get a big one (3.25") and a small one for reducing it to vape grit.

If rice is a euphemism, I don't know that one GD...

Don't use Amazon much in Australia as it has loads of added fees for us. Ebay is our best hope, so I'll look there.

Will persist and see how it goes.

One more question - it smelled and tasted like very old, ripe, sports socks. Was disgusting. Is that a question of moisture too?

I dunno, it's generally much less smell and taste than burning it, and I'd never describe the taste as anything close to that. But I haven't, like, tasted all kindsa varieties or anything.

I don't know what kind it is. Grew it from seeds, but at least I know it does have weird stuff added to it.

I always thought you mustn't let it dry out too much or it loses ABC or DEF or some other thing. Should I just dry what I am going to use in a few days or all of it? (Not that much, but not just for this week.) And grind after drying presumably?

Thank you all for the encouragement. Even knowing it doesn't work for everyone, like GD, is a bit of a comfort. Will persist and report back if there is progress

This is a question more for C-man but if you grew it, it needs to have gone through a curing step and then dried like 90% ? Or it will have a really bad smell and taste? I think?

Complete drying is OK, I think just not ideal when combusting, the material goes up fast. For vaporization it's fine. It's just as potent imo. Grind very finely after drying.

Sorry, meant to say does NOT have any weird stuff in it.

I had a friend staying during the curing stage who knew what to do as he had done it professionally for 6 years on a medical marijuana farm. After he left I followed his instructions, using a dehumidifer in the room, and a humidity meter. Then bottled and burped for weeks after wards. It's still a bit tacky to the feel and if you compress it, it sticks together. I'll try leaving some out for a few days to dry, then grind finely and have another go. I also ordered a 4 level grinder. Only A$13, so hope that does not reflect on the quality of it. If you think it would, and I need to pay, say, minimum $50, then feel free to say

Naw people have been grinding fine with cheap grinders, I think you'll be fine. Also, I'll be right over.
