April 13, 2007: Cadbury cockatoo

Danac suggests this BBC item about a rather feisty cockatoo named Pippa.

Pippa's 17, and lives at the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary. One day they took her outside, where she saw those Cadbury Creme Eggs. She decided they were hers to protect, and for the last two weeks, that's what she's been doing.

According to the owner,
Quote:
She's got so much character it's unbelievable. She hates men - we've had a builder in who had his neck bitten. We had to prise Pippa's beak off his neck.

When she attacks you, she attacks your ear lobe - she goes straight through them. We do free ear piercing here.

She's ever so comical - always has been.
It's always comical when a bird bites through your flesh! I'd be tempted to take one of those choccy eggs and eat it in front of her, the horror! The horror!

I bet she's delicious. Bird for dinner, chocolate eggs for dessert. Perfect.

I wouldn't be worried about that bird. If I can choke a chicken, I can handle a cock or two.

It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Colonel Walter E. Kurtz

The way to cook a cockatoo:
Ingredients:
1x medium to large cockatoo
1x medium onion
1x clove garlic
1x teaspoon thyme
1x medium sized rock
Salt and pepper to taste

Chop and fry garlic and onion in a dash of olive oil until browned.
Put all ingredients in a deep baking dish. Cover with water, and place lid on dish to ensure maximum tenderness.
Put in middle shelf of oven on medium heat.
Check contents every 15 minutes until rock soft.
Throw out cockatoo, and eat rock.

Serves 4.

How can [Imus] you people [/Imus] even joke about eating cockatoo?!?!?

I'd use it as crab bait and have crab cakes instead.

I used to live in Nuneaton, and I can't recall ever seeing a wildlife Sanctuary! There was a nice quiet town, an ant-hill that was about 6 or 7 stories high, and a lovely quiet pub...? Well, never mind, just send me the cadbury's eggs as evidence and I'll believe it.

Has the cockatoo checked to see if the eggs are smaller or not?
