THoughts on portable video game systems

Does anybody have a Nintendo DS or a Sony PSP? What do you think of them?

Neither of those, but we have 2 Gameboy Advance SPs. I highly recommend them if you're willing to expand your consideration beyond the two newest models...

I've been considering a PSP, but haven't found the game of magnificence that will make me actually buy one.

i have a psp.

and dig it. graphics are amazing , the screen is huge, and it does cool shit. wireless multi player thing....the memory stick thing......(you can download saved games from the internet onto the memory stick in your laptop.....then load them into the psp. purt dern cool.

not enough games out yet, tho.

I've got a Nintendo DS. I looked at the PSP and really love the larger screen, but couldn't find any PSP games that I liked. I'm not into sports games or fight games. Considering its capabilities, I'm surprised how few first person shooters there are for it. I may still get one at a later date if the right games come out.

In the meantime, I'm happy with the DS. There are some good games out for it now, and Metroid Prime: Hunters is on the way. The other thing you may want to know is that the DS goes longer on a battery charge: ~6 hours for the PSP as opposed to ~10 hours for the DS.

What I would suggest is to browse the

DS game list and the PSP game list and see which games interest you more.

The DS is looking better and better ... between Castlevania, the Trauma Center Game, and a version of Bust-A-Move, many of my entertainment criteria are met.

Of course I don't know anyone who lives close enough who has one to do the note-passing thing, so the utility is still limited.

Is the DS Backward Compatible with old gameboy games?

It plays GBA games but nothing earlier.

One other thing. Since the DS is backlit and not frontlit like the gbasp, GBA games look a lot better on the DS. Colors are bold and not washed out.

Meh, I've tried the PSP, it looks very nice and the games my friend had were pretty cool. But the games I want to play are avaliable on my computer and Dreamcast. $$ <3

Well I sprung for a DS--with the Animal Crossing bundle. Also picked up Trauma Center and Super Mario 64.

The problem is, I'm going to have to hide it from the kidlets!

I'll report back, but my initial reaction with Animal Crossing is, I'm very klutzy moving around in a game with an arrow pad. Dragging around the stylus to move my character is just plain effortless. As the saying goes, "why didn't somebody think of this before??"
