Ottawa

Sorry for the delayed start to this one folks.
In part caused, I fear, by plunging straight into the local cuisine - Poutine. Chips (fries), curd cheese and gravy - the heat of the chips and gravy should cause the cheese to melt a bit. My chosen version also had mushrooms and spinach and these were stone cold which I think was probably unintentional.

This, or something, gave me some digestive grief which rather overshadowed Christmas Day.
Before that set in, on Christmas Eve we went for a walk along the Ottawa river.

Such is my ignorance I did not know that Ottawa is Canada 's capital.
We walked along the river and saw some Inukshuk inspired art:

The temperature was around 63 Fahrenheit and we met a few people out walking in shorts and t-shirts.

Christmas Day was spent mostly knitting and avoiding food but by evening I was able to partake of a small Christmas dinner. As there were 12 of us at table I restrained from photographing the food. It was lovely and I'm glad I'd recovered enough to appreciate it.
Yesterday was a quiet day in but in the evening we went for a drive to admire some of the Christmas lights. We do this sort of thing in the UK but not quite on the scale that some do here.

Since our arrival the weather reports have taken a promising turn.
Today we have a little snow and more is promised.

There are fat and furry grey and black squirrels in the garden here, red cardinals and chickadees which look like what in the UK are called blue tits (yes, tits).

Snow! Sorry to took so long, but with the holiday it's difficult to get things moving. With the delay, you might even get a couple of feet when you're trying to get a flight home.
