Trying to identify a piece of guitar music.
I'll put my cards on the table, I'm not really a musical person so I hope that the more musically blessed amongst you will help me out.
One of the radio stations has been running an ad or trailer with a piece of, apparently simple, guitar music. The work crops up from time to time in various contexts but I don't know what it is called so can't search YouTube for it. This is, due to force of circumstance, a rather vague description but if I say that it sounds like a simple, slow paced piece with individual well defined notes, I hope that it might just jog a memory or two. It's one of several pieces of music in the ad/trailer and I get the impression that they were all well known hits. To those who know about these things. Any ideas Dwellars? Ta!

A very good question! I think it was for either a CD or a show of various types of hit music with brief examples of each type. I thought I'd have a random trek through YouTube and I've found a track played by Eric Clapton that is similar to that which I am trying to identify. It's similar as far as pace and simple structure is concerned. I hope I'm not sending anyone off on a wild goose chase, but there is some similarity to this at least at the beginning. Might be marginally faster.

@lj
Thanks for that, but unfortunately it isn't the piece I'm looking for. It seems to me that each note is being picked out on a single string although my knowledge of these things is so very poor. I realise that asking for help on the basis of the information I have given is like asking someone to nail custard to a wall but all thoughts are gratefully received.

Like an arpeggio? or a melody of single notes? if you have a smart phone, get 'sound hound' and turn it on next time you see the spot. Or just make note of what company is doing the spot.

Clapton has so many fitting that description. So does Richard Thompson... and many others.
I agree, next time you hear it, pay attention, find out the name of who's using it. And if it's a CD, buy it.

Thanks everyone!
It was a bit of a long shot given my vague description but thanks for having a go. I listen mostly to speech radio and it often burbles on in the background. The guitar music attracted my attention but it was quickly over and I missed the context. It might even have been a trail for an associated network. Note to self: Get a grip and pay attention man!

No, unfortunately it wasn't that, Spexx.
That video was copyright blocked in the UK, but I found a number of other renditions. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply, though.
