Oct 29, 2010: Lunch On The Run
Actually, lunch on the hoof, on the run.
The poor Bear was having lunch, and just went to the bathroom because he remembered he hadn't washed his paws. When he came back, he found his lunch had taken it on the lam, but he'd catch it again, you betcha. Quote:
Besides you're 800 lbs now, and that's not politically correct. Setting a bad example for the cubs, you know. link EDIT ~ See post 32 for the whole story.

AND they're both on the wrong side of the road.
I recall we had a bear related IotD a while back, A new(ish) poster was defending bears, "they mostly eat nuts and berries and stuff, the claw are for digging worms...". I guess the buffalo owes him money.

Could we please have some happy IotDs? I know it's hard to do and a pain and I DO appreciate your efforts, bruce. I DO!
But, honey, life is hard enough as it is - could we please have some happy pics for a week? Nature, while red in tooth and claw, can also be uplifting! Pretty please?

What the hell? We had happy signs, a happy gourd, happy hearse, happy sculpture, happy $1 meal, happy climbing wall, and happy Octopus.
I guess I've got to come out there, and personally make you happy.

Has anyone seen the post around the polar bear coming to play with sleigh dogs as oppossed to ripping them to pieces? I was feeling all warm and fuzzy about that and bears in general. After seeing, this no longer.

Any bear that has gone hungry for awhile, or is preparing to hibernate and needs more fat, is a much more aggressive animal. I've seen video's/pics of two other amazing friendships among animals: 1) The snake that bonded with a mouse or hamster, that was put into his cage, as dinner. The rodent actually rested right on top of the snake's coiled up body. I'm guessing the snake was enjoying the rodent's extra bit of warmth, but just a guess. 2) Three cheetah siblings ran down a very young Tommy gazelle, licked it's neck and head, and then let it go. Very unusual, indeed. |

We had the cheetah pictures here. Turns out they were just tasting that Gazelle in the pictures, they ate it later.

Foot, you're bad.
Yes that was an IOtD, I think. Lose that warm and fuzzy, Bears, even those cute little 50 lb cubs, will seriously fuck you up. Those claws don't retract, always ready for action. They're incredibly Strong, a seriously unpredictable.
