BBC 1 drama "Dad"

Did anyone see the drama on BBC one Thursday night?

The story really moved me, I thought the acting was terrific and it manged to cover the story from all angles sensitively.

I wasn't impressed with the way the hospital/nursing home staff and care given to the patients was covered in the best light.

Having a grandfather who recently died from Alzheimers and my other grandfather had to live watching his beloved wife deteriorate due to the disease over 20 years I can fully understand that perspective. However, since working part time at an elderly rehabilitation unit I can also see how understaffed and underfunded the NHS care services are. I thought the staff in the drama were portrayed as uncaring and I know all the staff I work with work really hard to give the patients the best care possible.

After all, why else would any nurse stay in the profession? It wouldnt be for the money...
