Crawfish have a tail section built for swimming, much like a lobster, since they live primarily in the water. Scorpions, however, are built for movement on land since that is where they reside. Their tail section curves upward and has a barb on the end which is their primary weapon. Links with pics available below.

not all scorpion tails curve up. some curve to the side. whether that side is right or left is an issue for their tailor.

Since it's not being totally dropped - I, unfortunately have "several" crawdad holes in my back yard. After a good rain, those little suckers dig up more mud - it's a crawdad

In college, it was part of the common backyard-crawdad-boil party ritual that you entertain yourselves with crawdad races before actually cooking them. If a particular gladiator was very successful, he might even be spared from being dinner.

It's folded under it's body. But the head is another indicator that it's a crayfish.

crawfish vs cat
i might have posted this before? no big payoff, but it's interesting to see how they interact. cat: what the? it's not *much* food but it definitely is food. Not really enough food to bother with if I'm gonna get pinched, though... crawdad: I'm HUGE!! Fuck you, I'M HUGE!!! |

Oh that's another point in my favour re carbon selling. Our rivers are being over-run with American Crayfish, they are wiping out the British Crayfish by being harder and meaner and tougher and bigger. I will endeavour to eat as many crayfish as possible
My boys woulda had that crayfish walloped in a minute. That cat is just curious, not hunting.
