Thanks Syc...I read the article, but I still like my "guy farted in a refinery" theory:p

Milk has been pricey here in San Diego, CA for a long time. I can't remember when it jumped in price due to CRS (can't remember shit ), but I do remember everybody getting really pissed off about it. Also due to CRS I don't recall how much I recently paid for some, but they started selling it in two-packs (2 gallons) here so people think they're gettin' a better deal

I barely use a half-gallon by the expiration date...2 gallons? Shit...3/4 of it would go bad in my house.

I paid $1.679 today for regular unleaded at Sam's Club, where I get a 3 cent discount off of the average price at surrounding stations, so We're looking at $1.70, $1.71 here in general. This is damn near the highest price I've ever had to pay for gasoline. I think I may have had to pay $1.80 during a brief spike a few years ago, but then I wasn't driving an Explorer at the time.

I still don't really know what my average gas mileage is as I've only had the beast two weeks, and for one tank I pulled my camper and a load of camping gear, and for another I had a back end full of PA gear. I'm guessing I'm going to average about 18 mpg when all is said and done.

Sort of figures that the first actual "gas guzzler" I've owned since the 70's would be at the time when gas hit a near-historic high here in KC.

Els...watch out for Maggie, she's not big on us idiots who drive gas-guzzlers. Thank's for the gas price info. Something's telling me it sucks being a Californian for more reason's than one. It would appear from all the posts so far that I'm definitely gettin' screwed at the gas pump (NO comment necessary from you Bruce:p )

I'm in North Carolina and we're paying $1.62/gallon. A couple months ago, in Vegas, the prices got up to $2.12. I seriously considered taking the bus.

Milk is $3.29 a gallon for 2% in Vegas, and I pay $1.39 for a half gallon of 2% in NC.

Arm for Regular, Leg for Mid Grade, Kidney for Premium

On the way to work this morning, I saw,

Low grade 1.71
Mid grade 1.79
High Grade 1.86

And this was the 'cheap' station!

Thanks Wolf, I wasn't allowed.

In 1988 I paid $1.49 per liter in Canada, filling a 45 gallon tank.

Yesterday, the Mobil near my house was up to $1.839/gallon, up 8 cents from last Sunday. When I fill up tonight, I'll have to see if it's jumped any higher.

Although, I still have a half tank...we could easily get to Baltimore on that Monday...maybe I'll wait until Monday night.

Bruce, is that $1.45 Canadian or $1.45US? Either way, that must have been during a gas crunch there...it's about 70-90 cents (49-63 cents US) a litre now: $1.86-2.39 US a gallon.

That was $1.49 Canadian. I was 300 miles from the nearest public road and the only game in town. When the pump rolled past $100 the guy got down and looked under the vehicle.

I live around Pittsburgh, and little more than a week ago, Regular was $1.30/gallon, give or take a few cents. Then I started college, came back yesterday for Labor Day weekend, and the same station is now $1.69/gal. It was weird, I looked over at my mother and asked "Hey, is that right?"

Hey, what college did you wind up choosing? You haven't been here in ages, and I don't remember if you ever said where you were going...that, or I'm forgetful and/or too fucking lazy to go look around Cellar.
