"Our Freedom" Defended (after 9/11)

It is almost 9/11/2016 (in some time zones it is already). In memoriam I thought it proper to start a thread on its effects on the world, society, and especially "Our Freedom".

Immediately after the 911 attacks, President GW Bush said that "our freedom" had been attacked and that "our freedom" would be defended.

In order to defend our freedom he then took it away and locked it up tight (The Patriot Act).

Freedom is not like gold. You can't protect it in a vault.

Bush had heard that freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

Apparently he heard it on the radio when told, by Rev. Billy Sol Hargis of the First Church of the Gooey Death and Discount House of Worship for the Salvation of your Soul, to put his hand on the radio. And say Halleluia !!! That revelation only comes from the radios in the vicinity of Del Rio, Texas. Say Halleluia. Say Amen.

In order to fully comprehend this thread I have to ask El Veto-Voter which freedoms have specifically been taken.

As a plainly outrageous example, did the Federal Government require you to quarter troops in your residence without your consent?

Or was it more subversive: to use a less unlikely example, did statements by public officials make you personally afraid of publicly stating your opinion?

Ignoring an obvious one -
Quote:
... the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Scalia said the Constitution does not grant right of privacy. So yes, which rights (or freedoms) are on this list?

When I was a child, many years ago, I had a little squirrel that I dearly loved. One day in an emergency I accidentally stepped on my little squirrel. Then I didn't have a little squirrel anymore.

It seems that whenever there is an emergency, those who love freedom the most, accidentally step on it.

That has been the history of wars and emergencies throughout the ages.
