Put Bonnie plants tomatoes and basil in today; last week carrots and brussels sprouts (new!) in as seed. Also an eggplant.

We did not remove the last bits of thyme and sage out there, and lo and behold, it came back this year with no prompting.

My dad made a version of this out of wood. They look really nice. My brothers are using them; I don't have enough sunny spot and don't like tomatos, but it's a neat idea.

I have a plastic owl in my office. He used to be out in the atrium to keep the birds out. He didn't work. Now he has a college hat on and I named him Moltimer.

How in the world does it work?

You plant the plants in the 'base' (top thing) like a normal planter to get them started, then once they have flowers, flip the whole thing upside down and put into the base?

How do you water the plants?

I am totally confused.

I think you put the small tomato plants through holes in the top base thingy. The tomatos will then vine down. You can plant other plants on the top part of the dirt so it looks pretty. Then you just water the dirt. I think. I know dad drilled holes in the top base thingy.

My Mother grows tomatos in hanging pots along the edge of the carport. They do great, except where the vines go over the edge of the pot, as the vines get heavier the point at the pot edge gets pretty strained.
Is it high enough so critters can't nibble the hanging fruit?

I guess it's higher than ground planted tomatoes. Do squirrels eat tomatoes? They can get into just about anything!
