I do not have a garden, or a green thumb, but for those of you who are so talented here is one special idea for this year.

As petals get their nourishment through stem, the idea is to split the stem into several channels and dip each one in a different colored water. This way all the colors will be drawn by the stem into petals and resultant rose will have all the colors in it. The same method can be applied to other flowers especially to Chrysanthemum and Hydrangea. You can use the same idea to color any flower, anyway you like.

Oh wow - gorgeous.
I certainly couldn't be bothered to grow them, but if I have won the £90m Euromillions rollover this weekend I will certainly make sure I have a vase of them in my house.

I think it is beautiful too. It can't be any more difficult than coloring easter eggs. Probably.

I've done that single-color only, to daisies and celery.

I think every American Kid does the celery thing when learning about capillary action.

What I would like to know is how they got the colors so vibrant ... I'm used to them coming up paler. I guess it's a higher concentration of the dye, but man. that's saturated.

I assume they're staring with white roses.

What I'm not getting is how they do that without killing the rose ... article says it's done while they are growing.
