June 2, 2011: Life sized Mousetrap

from electricforestfestival.com
(Dunno if I'm breaking the rules so mods delete as needed.)

Quote:
For Life Size Mousetrap, the old-school board game favorite is turned into a life-sized spectacle; “A colorful assemblage of kinetic sculptures fantastically handcrafted into a giant 25-ton Rube-Gold-berg machine!”

This classic yet up-sized contraption comes to life on site at Electric Forest, with a vaudevillian style road show featuring dancing mice and live music by Esmerelda Strange. Also on the crew are well-dressed "Clown 'engineers" who endeavor to achieve a chain reaction using Newtonian physics and bowling balls. And, just like the board game, the action culminates with the spectacular dropping of a 2-ton bank safe from a 30 foot crane!

Check the Electric Forest festival map once onsite to locate the Life Size Mousetrap.
I would LOVE to take my "kids" there. My youngest is now 19...
Looks like a great place to have a great time.

For it to be a "real" Mousetrap experience it would start before it had been set up.
You'd have to ask, "Can we play Mousetrap? Please? Go on. Really. Please?" over the course of about a month. Eventually they would cave in despite moaning that it wasn't worth setting up.

Then they wouldn't bother explaining all the rules, except when you did something wrong.
And they would win effortlessly.
And it was nowhere near as cool as the TV advert. But you secretly blamed that on them and not on the game.

Apart from that - yay! Cool!

You must have very big mice over there if that's life sized.

for a "real" mousetrap setup, there'd have to be an earthquake that sets all the pre loaded potential energy mechanisms into motion at the same time. it was sad and frustrating in the living room but here it might be pretty cool to watch!
