You're right, Monster, Canadians eat the same bacon we do. That must be because it's superior tasting, as they, like we, have a choice at the store.

oh and Crispy is the norm for American bacon, whereas -probably because it's more meaty- British "middle" or "back" bacon is served less well done. But they probably changed that since I left too. Wouldn't be surprised to find they moved the country.
Way back when I lived there, I liked back bacon cooked just like dana shows and thought streaky and/or smoked bacon the work of the devil.

Canadians are mad at Americans for calling a round piece of ham "Canadian" bacon. And also because we tell them they didn't breed behavior out of cats.

These days most eateries grill or griddle their bacon - to make it *cough* healthy - yah. Basically means it comes out looking uncooked with translucent, soft rind. I always ask for mine to be well done. And at home I fry the everloving shit out of it, so the rind is crisp and golden.

Yup, bacon has always been grilled in this house and it's never looked as flabby as some of the sad things I've been offered.
I'm not saying it looks like the American versions of bacon, but I am saying that Mum will not order bacon in or on anything in this country unless she's seen and approved of it on someone else's plate. And I worked with a girl who used to buy a bacon roll, remove the bacon and dissect it, then put it back in the roll again. Which I found funny at the time (I called it her jigsaw breakfast) but she would not eat the undercooked rind and fat. Sorry, not doing anything to dispel the myth that Brits serve lousy food. I just hope that the Americans on here are as kind about the British in conversation as I am about them. I'm a one-woman pro-Merkin cheerleader.
