There is a lot more trading of vehicles between dealers for color and specific equipment combinations. That ads cost and delay to deals. Every once in a great while, we will factory order...and you can expect to wait 3 months for that.

When I worked at Jeep, I could have your car in 3 weeks with your name printed on the Window Sticker.

The Monronie Label (Window sticker) would have this printed:
This Vehicle Built Specially For:

and then your name. Cars ordered for customers would get first priority, so we would put in bogus orders. Tony Dungee, George Costanza, etc.

Had I seen that episode of Seinfeld, I'd have ordered a brown Sebring for John Voigt
This was my experience with the Fit, they had one that I drove, and the it sold, they only knew a couple more were coming in the next couple of weeks, but didn't know any specs. So when they met our criteria it was a case of don't wait too long it might be gone.
Ford Fiestas are made in Mexico 6- 8 week order on those, Focus' are mad a few miles from me, you can get them ordered in about 3 weeks. One the dealers I went to is directly across the street from the factory, they still get charged $700 delivery though

If you put HP20 2BH into Google Maps and zoom into street view, you can see Dads getting out of their previous car with his shopping.
Now that's green!

Their current car is a boring mid-blue, but I still appreciate it when I have a cake to take into school or it's blowing a gale.
