My mom and sister used to take their dogs (a chow and a silky) to Petsmart to be groomed. The last time they took them, they both came out naked like that. I told them I would have refused to pay, because it is CLEARLY not what they ordered. And as I said, the overcoat on the chow still hasn't grown back, to this day. She just has the wooly undercoat on one side. I adopted a husky over the weekend, and you can bet she won't be getting trimmed. The coat helps keep them cool as much as it keeps them warm. I think I want to learn how to groom her and do it myself. Some groomers are just too unpredictable. She went in today to be spayed, and when they opened her up they found an abcess in the bellybutton area, so they removed it and she is on antibiotics for 10 days. She is so damn sweet though, and SMART! She smart as hell, and stubborn too. HA! Reminds me of me. ![]() *edit to add* shaving a dog down to the skin also makes them vulnerable to sunburn. Awwww wook at his widdle face!
My brother has a Golden and they get that thick curly hair cut off every summer. Jack loves it...so did Zeke. Zeke's hair wasn't curly and thick as Jack's is, though. It'll grow back, but he's cuter than heck either way.

the groomer did the same thing to our Shih-Tzus. They went in for a trim and came out NAKED! You can see the pigmentation on their skin through their "coats". I'll try to get the wife to send a pic that I can post.

I'm thinking about cutting Frank's hair cut but I hate to see him muzzled. I takes him days to get over the attitude that he's been violated. He would like the short hair, but the process seems to humiliate him.

I gave some thought about using my credit to pay for this and said, Naw. Have to login to BOA. So I paid by debit. No recourse.. I'm just glad that I no longer drink Jose Cuervo. And I bet there's some folks at vets office that could feel the same way Or I might be on other side of jail house fence in my back yard.
Anyway Hobo has been going to park up the street in late afternoon, I know of no way to break him. Today I went to Dr. and left Dottie and Hobo in kitchen from 10:30 am till 5pm and no mess. Cap. I agree with you. I think it traumatize the little shit. Lady told me would see how he did w/clipper and might had to sedated him. No way will I pay 15 bucks to make your job easy. So she asked if it was OK, a little more off. Right down to the flappin hide. Did a worm test that I didn't order. Hell I knew dog had worms. maybe from birth. I've been looking after dogs almost 50 years and I need no butthole to charge, tell me what to do. Part rant!! Carry on

Hobo was at park again this afternoon. I talked, begged and when I left he chased me home in car. Go figure, guess it's a game to him.
Dottie, Hobo playing.

I wonder if he goes back because someone left him there originally?

We have a Basenji - Maybe German Shepard (?) mix that is like that. Smart sucker but willful as hell. Sweet, too (thank goodness). He is the first dog I've ever had that I actually wanted.

My ex had a Basenji once. He said she was the coolest dog. She didn't bark, but made singing noises. My husky makes really interesting sounds. She's very chatty. She is also sweet and willful as hell, I'm learning.

Buster, thanks for all the updates on Hobo. He does look cute as all-get-out, but he'll lead you a merry dance. But you know that already
