*cough*TS*cough*

**whistling, tapping toe, strumming fingers waiting to be psychobabblized over my desktop**

More importantly, waiting to see all the psychobabble dirt on all my Cell(ar) mates.

Just a wild guess but it could be the way they are staring at us like those women in the 1-900- commercials that start coming on every twelve seconds at 3:00 am on Saturday morning.

You're right! It's the dodgy camerawork/porn expression staring back at you while you write shell scripts.

To each their own, I guess. I can't understand how people can live with the default Windows setup - background, sounds etc.

If I'm going to staring at the screen for 8 hours a day, I want it to look nice.

Here's the one I use at work. The background rotates every 15 minutes. Mostly landscapes I took, and a pile of astronomy pics.

Home is a mac... I'll get that one later today.

UT - where did you get a firefox logo with enough resolution to expand to a desktop? It looks very hip.

Actually when I'm working, I'm not looking at my desktop, but I AM working.

work. My desktop here is a sloppy repository of current 'stuff' that I access using ^D. After I took the screenshot, I deleted everything that was selected.

Okay. Here's mine. Well, the Windows XP side anyway. I haven't figured out how to do a screenshot in Linux yet. And resizing is a pain with the crappy drawing program I have. I need Photoshop.

There are some damn cool desktops around here.

Brian: I used The GIMP. In the file(?) menu, select Acquire -> Screenshot. By the way, that is the background that I use on my Windows installation at home.

How do you define the desktop then? Do I highlight it? Or does the function just go ahead and read my mind (Linux has ceased to surprise me with neato hidden tech).

GIMP is a program I have yet to use, I'll play with it and then try to do a snapshot. Then I will try to figure out the screensaver. It's set to ON but the screen only goes dark. Must be a power saver feature I have enabled somewhere. Or something. Or Linux refuses to display silly screensavers.
