No astrophysicist has said there are UNDOUBTABLY eleven dimensions, and certainly not in this thread; what your guy said was, etc etc. close enough. i'm honestly not so up on my astrophysics.

Astrophysics and theoretical physics are getting mixed up.

I would say astrophysicists have more of a sense of legitimacy since they are using indirect evidence while theoretical physics use other mediums such as mathematics and have no physical evidence, direct or indirect. Saying that, M-theory is mathematically proven but that really doesn't mean shit.
