You have great ideas. I put chopped pecans and sprinkles in the brownie batter. Yes they're scrumptious!

Tonight I was adventurous and made a pasta salad with a peanut sauce. It was pretty good.

I can't take credit for the idea; I came across the recipe on another board and thought I'd try it. It's a refreshing change from mayo-based salads & standard "italian" salads.

Alluvial, I'm sure you're a lovely lady.
But you sure know how to ruin a salad.

Peanuts?
Sigh.
Might as well go ahead and put banana in it now.

Yesterday, it was brats with a side of sauteed diced radishes, radish greens, spring shallots and new potatoes.

Tonight it's going to be grilled flank steak and asparagus with ... polenta? or a little pasta? in a tarragon-caper butter sauce. Subject to change if Badger doesn't make it back from Dawl-gren at a reasonable time. Or if I just change my mind.

Speaking of meatloaf, it's not something we 'do' over here, but i decided to make one a couple of weeks ago. It went down a treat with the family. They really loved it. I'm going to do another one soon. Hmmm...Maybe even tonight! Thanks for the inspiration mtp.

If you like meatloaf, you should try the meatball recipe which Jill posted in the ultimate recipe thread.

This is a prawn salad with kiwi fruit, roasted grape tomatoes and watercress, to be served with a lime wasabi dressing.

I've also made a spinach pie and will serve boiled baby potatoes in their jackets with sour cream and chives, and we'll be BBQing the amberjack (15kg/35lb) Dazza caught last weekend.

To finish, we'll be having chocolate mud cake (cause that's what the kids wanted).

I made my most recent meatloaf with ground turkey instead of beef. I think it was a little less fatty. It was just as good, anyway.

We have Meatloaf a couple of times a month, because its super easy and I can slip a heap of grated vegies into it without the little people noticing too much. Actually, its only the redhead that is anti-vegie, but he devours anything fruit like.

Fruit kebabs are a winner here too, coz the boys can *build their own*.

Dad has been complaining that we only eat what Mum and I like recently.
Not true, because Mum & I stopped cooking together about 2 months ago.
And I have been eating separately in this time - see weight loss chart for verification.

But instead of challenging his assumption - he is in his 70th year after all - I offered Mum spag bol this week as a sop. Now, she loves it when I cook - she doesn't have to cook AND I wash up as I go along. The usual deal is one cooks and the other cleans up, so there is far less work when I cook (also because I'm of a one-pot style).

So it's turkey mince (already bought and in the freezer) and an Aldi vegetable sauce. Aldi is a cheap European supermarket, but I'm not gloating over what the sauce cost me, it's the fact it's low fat and loaded with veg (carrot, courgette and peppers) and he thinks he's getting away with something because he's getting meat and shop-bought sauce and pasta (hehehe).

Regardless, he'll enjoy it, and that's really what's important.
