I ended up going with a Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and Cheesy Garlic Bread from the restaurant of the highest quality for salad (This place also does very good on the steaks, but not so good on the pizzas). Filled me up quite nicely, and I got to feel rather self-righteously good about myself because there was green stuff involved.

Uhh Jim some of us work with our hands , ALWAYS haveing a freash MANaqueir is NOT an option !!!

Dude was just showing the process , I don't rember seeing his Thumb nails dipping into the food .

A real dinner. Absent that...
Tacquitos from 7-11
A can of Corned Beef Hash from Giant Grocery Store
Ramen (the good kind - a Vietnamese friend told me what to buy)
A can of Red Bull and some Wheat Germ.

Apologies extended from me if my Hubby's stained fingernails that earn our living offended anyone. Can't make a square, toast shaped fried egg in a frying pan, can you? Which is what I was showing. ...and that was NOT velveeta. Kraft. Though I'm not sure how much better you'd approve of that particular brand. It's just FOOD.

I used to think so, too. I have since found that they can be used to cook some things, however I would never cook meat in the m'wave. I remember my mother's first m'wave cooking attempts that were the consistency of rubber. Ugh.

The fingernail crack horribly embarassed me. I have had to make excuses (lie)to Hubby so he would not want to come and look at this thread. He would be mortified. He actually did comment to me about his fingernails as I was posting and it was me who told him to just shine it, it wasn't that important...but I think it was and I wish now I had changed the photos I used.

Still, the m'wave fried egg sandwich is delicious, nutritious and SAFE for children to make without allowing them near the elec/gas stove.

I'm splitting hairs, but I LOVE eggs in the frypan and my mum is always banging on about doing them in the microwave because its less clean up....how?? frypan goes in the dishwasher as would the microwave bowl etc

The one cup rock 'n serve tupperware containers work well for this, too. Just put the lid on loosely!

With the frying, I don't like it smelling up the house. In the nuker, it doesn't make as much smell. Although, I think in our case it is just hubby frying more butter than egg . . .

One of my favorite quick fixes is pasta, any kind (already cooked, though), with some chili on top (any kind) and some grated cheese.

Potato, chili and cheese works well, too.

Broccoli is disgusting. I like using the summer squashes (zucchini, yellow neck).

Oooh, I just remembered something I ordered in a restaurant once: one of those little souffle boat dishes with a couple of whole chilis (the green, out of the can, ortega kind), topped with tons of cheese and baked (or nuked) until the cheese has really been cooked a bit (more than just melted). Serve it with bread, crackers, tortillas, tortilla chips, etc. Nice little easy to do meal.

We'll probably have salad with it.
