People describe The Goodies as a cross between Monty Python and The Monkees. I think that's accurate. I don't think The Monkees is as funny now, as it was when it first aired.

Did you see any Monkees when you were growin' up, Monst? I read somewhere that the Australians imported more US comedy than did Britain. They say the Aussies have experienced The Brady Bunch while the Brits have not. I'm fascinated by this cross-cultural meme-olution.

Yes, I didn't think it was funny then, either.

We didn't get the brady bunch but I think many of us are aware of what it is.

I can confirm the presence of the Brady Bunch down here, but I didn't think it was taken as a comedy, more of a highly bowdlerised family soap.
Which makes the various rumours I hear about what was going on in the dressing rooms all the more amusing. I mean Greg and Carol, maybe, but Marcia and Jan?

Zippy, you crack me up.

Thanks for bumping the thread ... I just met a person called Orly. She didn't know what it meant. After I told her she started dropping net-speak into conversation at every opportunity.
