Certainly the world would be a better place if many of the people who profess to be Christians would actually live up to the spiritual principles involved. Certainly for fundamentalists of all sorts it is indeed a place to hide. But don't paint all Christians with the same tar and feathers. Many Christians do their best to live up to the teachings of their faith. Just because some fail badly doesn't mean they all do.

Those wacky Westboro Christians are at it again, this time planning to target Elizabeth Edwards' funeral. What, now they hate people who die from cancer?

Lovely folks.

Well, you see, humans are suckers for anecdotal evidence. When every single "God person" you know is some kind of passive agressive psycopath, living in a make-believe world where they have no accountability for their actions, and simultaneously (to the height of hypocrisy) they constantly spew a barrage of hateful, unsolicited advice directed with extreme malice towards anyone who doesn't live up to their ever-shifting standards (even other Christians who aren't "doing it right" apparently) but keep in mind this is all done "in love" and because "God put this on their heart" and other bullshit statements which are designed, again, to absolve them of all responsibility and somehow, in their mind, make their "crazy world" rules apply to everybody. So, yeah, when that happens, it gives you a bad opinion of crazy God people. Again, anecdotal, but very convincing.

Sorry, disregard that. I know that some people get non-crazy value from the whole religion thing. I don't understand it, and to be honest it's all semantics to me. I do believe in a kind of God. A very different kind of God than that which I ever see bing discussed. I believe that one tru thing can be said: people who feel like they have to talk about God this God that all the time, they are probably using God as an excuse for their own bullcrap.

God doesn't like rain!

In the end, only five Westboro congregants showed for the protest, which took place in a cold, steady rain.
I don't know why I find this so funny, I just do.

And as they stood there in the rain, they said to themselves "Just remember why we're doing this!"

"Wait...why the ƒuck ARE we doing this?!"

Westboro Baptist Church To Picket Funerals Of Arizona Shooting Victims

Quote:
Westboro Baptist Church, the Topeka church known for its inflammatory anti-gay protests, plans to picket the funerals of the six people gunned down in Arizona on Saturday.

In a flier posted on its web site, the controversial church writes, "THANK GOD FOR THE SHOOTER -- 6 DEAD!" The message continues:

God appointed this rod for your sins! God sent the shooter! This hateful nation unleashed violent veterans on the servants of God at WBC--hoping to silence our kind warning to obey God and flee the wrath to come.

The flier claims that the shooting of both a House member and a federal judge -- the latter of whom was killed -- is god's punishment for judicial and Congressional action against the WBC. "God sent the shooter to shoot you! And He's sitting in Heaven laughing at you!" the announcement reads.

In graphic language, it continues:

Your federal judge is dead and your (fag-promoting, baby-killing, proud-sinner) Congresswoman fights for her life. God is avenging Himself on this rebellious house! WBC prays for your destruction--more shooters, more dead carcasses piling up, young, old, leader and commoner--all. Your doom is upon you!
(personal comments deleted so that I don't get a visit from the authorities.)

At what point do people go from being attention whores to just plain whores?

My personal favorite is whenever someone who some of these wankers likes dies or is killed early, it's always "G-d called him/her to his side". When someone they disapprove of dies, it's "G-d's judgment". How can they tell the difference? Do they have access to G-d's daily planner?

WBC. *sigh* Why do we give them an audience? All publicity is good publicity as far as they are concerned, so we have only ourselves to blame. Attention hos without attention are like the trees falling in the forest.

We need to stop reposting and reporting on their drivel. I guess though, attention hos begat attention hos. Like the witnesses to horrible accidents who can't wait to share the gory details with the TV reporters. Ugh. I hate the rubber-neckers and gawkers at road accidents too, who turn one tragic event into a whole shitfest throught their morbid fascination and inability to see the big picture and their part in it.
