A nursery, especially one that specializes in orchids, is the best place to find them.
Here's an orchid for you. It's in my Dad's kitchen. It smells beautiful.

I'm with Monster here - the most beautiful bouquet I ever received was from a manager I helped in a business sense. Huge dark red antique tea roses. With the smell of every romantic night in June. I got them on Valentines Day, but of course they meant nothing (apart from the flowers themselves) but I got envious glances on the Tube from women whose genuinely caring men had simply ordered bog-standard closed scentless buds.

The best flowers I ever got? A bog standard bouquet of closed scentless buds from a man who disagreed with sending flowers on principle but needed a big gesture. He chose badly, but hey - he had no practice. In fact he was a shit, but it was a symbol and that meant everything.

Orchids look so dirty. I love them.

Gobsmacked! Unable to comprehend disliking any flower.... does not compute.

We are so fortunate to have a massive amount of floral bliss covering ours and our neighbor's yards. Roses. All Colorado wild roses that grow like mad and have been blooming for 2 weeks, now. Only problem is, the bees like them more than we do, and terrify my little step-son.

If anyone feels like sending me flowers, I like hibiscus.

Surely, Grant, one of the internet florists carries more unusual types of flowers. ?? (Perhaps that has been suggested and I haven't noticed.)

edit: Oh yeah, and why did you change your name?

I think flowers of any sort are a pretty no-fail gift. I prefer flowers that smell nice, though, and hothouse floral arrangements tend not to.

No one sends me any.

Erm.
Errrrrrrrm.

Did I miss a name change thread?
Or have I confused two different threads?

Grant/ Perry Winkle, Perry Winkle/ Grant?

oh, yeah, good catch. How many guys have good attitudes toward menstruation? Can't be that many . . .

Of course, I'm seeing "perry winkie" -- and I think "petite/little winkie" -- so maybe the name needs a bit more thought.

Shhhhhh

I ended up getting flowers at Safeway. Blech. All the flower shops I went to were closed or out of business.

I'll plan ahead better next time.
