I'm sorry, Kagen, but... I feel nothing but loathing for NIN/Trent Reznor. NIN practically embodies the angst-sludge I despise in modern music.

See, its not as modern as, say, Green Day, but I find NIN indistinguishable from the multitude of other (to overuse a phrase) angst-sludge bands.

And when I hear industrial, I don't see a bunch of pale rockers in dark clothes etc, I get more of a... Dire Straits vibe. Industrial implies industry, which implies the working man. Listen to Industrial Disease or Money for Nothing by Dire Straits. That, to me, is industrial.

But anyway, yeah. NIN. I don't like them. Too angsty and... straightforward(?) for me. Maybe thats not the word. Something like that.

Use Me -- Bill Withers
Ain't No Sunshine -- Bill Withers
Lean On Me -- Bill Withers

This is not my original order, but they do flow this way, don't they?

tbh, I think Beestie hit the nail on the head....

"I've got a whole list but I think what everyone picks as their most emotional song has more to do with what (or who) they associate it with"

my list includes

Bobby Goldsboro - Honey
The Mindbenders - Groovey Kind of Love
Herb Alpert - Spanish Flea
Celine Dion- the Power of Love
The Commodores - Three Times a lady
